I originally envisioned it as a hidden party invitation, where the wings spread apart and the party details were hidden inside, but trying to work out the head/layers/hinge set up always had me dithering about it.
But I managed to pull it all together on a rather dingy day, today.
The head is in three layers as I am totally OCD about hiding all the prongs/punch throughs, on brads, especially if there’s a chance a child could get their hands on it.
I didn’t have any Real Red cardstock on hand, but I did have some Jupiter Metallic Red from Peterkin on hand for the base of the LadyBird. I punched out a couple of dozen circles from Basic Black cardstock and coated each circle in Wink of Stella. I cut out three circles from the Jupiter cardstock. The split circle on the top is actually two half circles that were cut a little further than half of the circle, so it forms a barely discernible oval shape. I then traced around the two half circles to create a base that matched in shape. (Not sure if that made sense? LOL)
The head is three separate Basic Black circles, and I used four mini silver brads: two to affix the head and semi circles together, and another two for the eyes.
