Global Design Project – Theme Challenge: Thanks

This week’s GDP challenge is a theme challenge – Thank You.

GDP027 Thank you

I’d just finished making two or three new cards for the blog, when I saw the email from GDP, so I opened the browser and there was the theme – and I spotted Michelle Last’s sample.  I thought I was being so unique. LOL

Anyway, without further ado…

I actually really love the look of this card.

It was made using the small butterfly from the Grateful Bunch stamp set, that can be found in the Occasions Catalogue (which runs out at the end of March!!!).

First I masked off a 3.5cm line vertically on the laying cardstock. Then I used the Blurred stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set in three colours: Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and Mint Macaron; double stamping up the layered piece of cardstock, the colour fade from dark to light.

I then stamped the small butterfly from the Grateful Bunch stamp set, in Basic Black archival ink all the way up the masked area, alternating the direction as I went.

I then dotted the masked area with small rhinestones, which I coloured black with a sharpie.

I stamped the greeting from the Suite Sayings stamp set, in black, onto a 1 1/4′ strip of vellum, and wrapped it around the layered piece of cardstock, affixing it to the back with glue dots.  I stamped another small butterfly and fussy cut it out of the layering weight whisper white.

I placed three small black coloured rhinestones along the butterfly’s body and bent the wings upwards on either side of the rhinestones.  I used a glue dot to affix the butterfly to the vellum and used a black marker to draw on the butterfly’s antenna.

I then decorated the vellum banner with three more rhinestones.

Well, I hope you like my contribution to this week’s, GDP. Click on the link above, to view the other submissions.

  1. All of these colors and all of these butterflies – what a wonderfully bold graphic. I love it! Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s “Thank You” theme challenge at the Global Design Project.
